A Quiet Sanctuary in NYC

408 W 115th St, New York, NY 10025
“Many people choose to avoid city living because of the ever-constant noise of the city. A topic less-discussed is that of visual noise, which NYC’s billboards and storefronts contribute immensely towards. Menagerie is a project intended on providing a place of renewal amongst the visual noise of the city. Dedicated to those in the visual arts, who rely on peace and clarity for performance, the structure creates transformational spaces of rest and recovery by avoiding the unnecessary. The building’s circulation intends to teach itself without imagery, and contains a variety of public and private spaces for variable levels of recollection. The project is located just outside Morningside Park and Columbia University, and intends to provide residents and visitors of Harlem space to pause in the immense city that is New York.”

A building dedicated for renewal, with spaces dedicated for:
  • Spa Ammentities (Massages, Pool, Sauna)
  • Meditation
  • Short/Long Term Stay
  • Libraries + Workspaces
  • Community Kitchen + Living
  • Congregation
  • Reflection
