RUNWAY’s “Rumors of War” SS ‘24 Show
RUNWAY at UVA is a club at school dedicated to the creation and persistence of the art of fashion here at the university. Their main work is in their annual runway show, in which they create opportunities for students to be models, performers, and even designers. Fashion is a very difficult industry to make a way in, and so their purpose is to lower the barrier of entry, and show that just like every other art form, fashion is available to all.
I was reached out to this semester to help create a visual identity for their show “Rumors of War”, which was based around Kehinde Wiley’s statue of the same name, along with his work in general. Their interest was to create a synesthesia of current aesthetics and they asked me to create various posters and a brochure to help promote the show. Through referencing and reinterpretation of a variety of works, we came to the designs in which we gave out to attendees this year. It’s a project I’m very proud of, and I look forward to my future work with RUNWAY.
