Art-Dedicated Apartments in RVA
107 N Colonial Ave, Richmond, VA 23221“The Museum District of Richmond is held back by the stigmatized response to high-density zoning. Individuals who live in the district refuse to support the development of apartment complexes, stating it would destroy the “nature” of the neighborhood, forcing high-density developments to be built on the outskirts. “WALK” serves as an introduction to the benefits of multi-use, high-density construction, by serving as both a space for living and creation. Units are designed with manipulatable private workspaces, and with a foldable entrance wall, units can intertwine with the main corridor and become a larger space for exhibition and cross-pollination of ideas. The ground floor houses many ammentites, including an exhibition space, an education space, and a workspace for those who don’t have access to tools or even the space to create. This project intends to give back to the artists of Richmond and to all who appreciate art and its ability to connect.”
